Title: The Key To Traveling Is To Never Know Where Your'e Going To End Up
"'I don't want to know what time it is. I don't want to know what day it is or where I am. None of that matters.'" (Krakauer 4)
Topic: Inspiration or Fool?
Most people believe that Chris McCandless was a fool for what he decided to do.
Although many of them create that opinion after they have read the story or
before they have even started. A lot of them never heard the backstory of
McCandless's life. If they did maybe their opinion might have been different. I
believe that McCandless's decision to run off into the wild was both foolish
and inspirational, foolish because as we all know it didn't end well for him.
He made the decision to go out there with no food, no water, no thought put
into his plan of leaving. Although I also believe that his decision was
inspirational, mainly because of his backstory, his family life. He grew up in
a very unstable family, he had a very harsh childhood and felt like leaving and
going into the wild was his sort of escape. I think that is very inspirational
because he tells people that there are easier ways to cope with bad situations,
many people turn to drugs and alcohol but Chris found that traveling is a
better way, now he didn't really do that in an intelligent manner but he still
chose to travel. Inspiration or Fool? A question only McCandless could answer.
