Post Title: Turn Anger Into Eager

"'He internalized the disappointment. He'd go off alone somewhere and beat himself up'" (Krakauer 112).

Topic: The Dynamics of Family

McCandless was a hardworking student when it came to studies and sports, basically McCandless could accomplish anything as long as he put his mind to it. He was a determined child. This is very surprising coming from the family that he grew up with. You would think that he would take out his anger in a bad way, but the good think about him was that he took that anger and turned it into eager, determination. Normally, if you came from a rough childhood or an unstable home all you would ever do is put yourself down for it. In fact it's very hard to be able to turn your anger into determination, and that's what was so impressive about McCandless. In chapter eleven, Kris Maxie, a good friend of McCandless in high school, talks about how he was very stubborn and always finished what he started. If he was disappointed in himself he would go beat himself up because he felt like he didn't accomplish what he needed to and then he would go and try and try again till he got what he had been working for. I too grew up in a very unstable family, my childhood was a little rocky, even now as I am a senior in high school my life at home is very unstable. I am also very much like McCandless because I have always told myself to turn anger into eager. This trait is very rare and difficult to have but I am so blessed to be one of the many people who can think about life in a very "glass have full" type of way. Turning anger into more anger gets you know where, try to turn anger into eager for a change.

Post' Title: The Key To Traveling Is To Never Know Where Your'e Going To End Up

"'I don't want to know what time it is. I don't want to know what day it is or where I am. None of that matters.'" (Krakauer 4)

Topic: Inspiration or Fool?

Most people believe that Chris McCandless was a fool for what he decided to do. Although many of them create that opinion after they have read the story or before they have even started. A lot of them never heard the backstory of McCandless's life. If they did maybe their opinion might have been different. I believe that McCandless's decision to run off into the wild was both foolish and inspirational, foolish because as we all know it didn't end well for him. He made the decision to go out there with no food, no water, no thought put into his plan of leaving. Although I also believe that his decision was inspirational, mainly because of his backstory, his family life. He grew up in a very unstable family, he had a very harsh childhood and felt like leaving and going into the wild was his sort of escape. I think that is very inspirational because he tells people that there are easier ways to cope with bad situations, many people turn to drugs and alcohol but Chris found that traveling is a better way, now he didn't really do that in an intelligent manner but he still chose to travel. Inspiration or Fool? A question only McCandless could answer.
